About
the Directors
Robert (Bob) Fildes was born in the
U.K., where he obtained an economics degree at the
University
of
Kingston-upon-Hull
,
Yorkshire
, in 1968. Shortly after graduation he emigrated to
Australia
, where he has lived ever since and is a naturalized Australian.
In Australia Bob Fildes worked for the N.S.W. Government in the Ministry of
Transport and subsequently as a technical college teacher in
Sydney
, where he was scriptwriter and consultant for several educational films,
including “Ships and Cargoes”. Bob has previously published a number of
shipping books e.g. “The Ships that serve
Australia
and
New Zealand
”, as well as being the editor for some years of the Sydney Heritage Fleet
quarterly magazine “Australian Sea Heritage”. He also supplies ship photos
for use in some well known
U.K.
ship reference publications.
A lifelong interest in all kinds of ships has provided the basis for the marine
book and CD's. All the photos in the book and CD's are by Bob Fildes unless
otherwise stated.
Lorraine Fildes was born in Australia, where she obtained
an arts degree at the University of New South Wales in 1964. Lorraine worked as
a Science teacher for the Department of School Education where she was involved
in writing and editing material for Distance Education. She has always had a
keen interest in travel and this travelling is now done by ship. The website http://lorrainefildes1.tripod.com
"Travels on a Cargo Ship" gives the highlights of this kind of travel.
More websites and CD's will be available about travels on passenger cruise
ships.
